Welcome to Mansjouren
Mansjouren is a swedish non-profit association that listens and provides conversational support to men who need to talk about their situation and want to find their way out of it.
You are very welcome to call our helpline, 08-30 30 20, if you need someone to talk to. The telephone helpline is open 12-2pm and 6-8pm every day of the week with the exception of Saturdays, when it is open 12-2pm.
The telephone helpline
Call us, we will listen. People sometimes need someone to talk to. It could be a crisis of some kind, divorce or an other problem that feels very heavy. At Mansjouren, we listen without judging and ask questions when we want to know more. We are convinced that everyone has the solution to their problems within them—it's just hard to find it sometimes.
Conversation groups
You can visit us to take part in one of our conversation groups that we organize every week, Wednesdays 18.00–20.00. Just turn up, you do not need to book. We also offer individual meetings and couple meetings in our premises. You book these by calling the hotline.
Conversation groups online
We arrange conversation groups online. This means that men from all over Sweden can participate. You participate through your computer, tablet or mobile phone. The participants choose the topics of the conversation—anything that is challenging in life.
We seek volunteers.
By becoming a volunteer at Mansjouren, you can improve the well-being of the world a little—and also develop yourself in meeting people and through internal training.
We want you to commit to about 2 hours work a week, preferably over a longer period of time and above all in our telephone helpline. It is necessary that you speak Swedish.
About Mansjouren
Mansjouren works based on knowledge of and experiences of today's men's situation—socially, relationally, gender-role-wise, legally and psychologically. We meet and talk with men on the phone, in individual meetings and discussion groups and contribute to them moving forward in their life situation.
History and facts
Mansjouren started in 1987 as “Mansjouren in Stockholm County”. Today, our ambition is to be a national organisation and help men all over the country. Our business is growing and in 2022 we received approx. 12,000 calls to our hotline. Formally, the association is managed by a board.
Our vision
We want to become the organisation in Sweden that has the best possible broad knowledge and experience of men's different situations in life and which is therefore the best conversation partner for men who need to talk about their situation.
We will do this throughout Sweden and what holds the organisation together as we grow are our values, our operating concept, our methods and our focus on men. We will grow both on our own and through collaborations and mergers with other organisations.
Our mission
Men’s situation and the male role are undergoing major changes. We will help men find themselves, their roles and solutions to their problems.
Our core values
Brave
Mansjouren has the courage to go outside the comfort zone, dares to take on the debate and dares to set boundaries. We have the courage to ask relevant and important questions and challenge the male role.
Human
Mansjouren has empathy and compassion. We are there for all men who need support. We are permissive, helpful, and humble. We are genuinely curious and focused on our help seekers.
Masculin
Mansjouren has strength and action power at the same time as we allow ourselves to feel for and empathize with each other. We speak plain language, develop and collaborate. We strive for equality. We change and improve. We take responsibility and stand for what we say and do. That is what masculinity means to us.
